SUMMARY: This is an alternate and less crowded route to Saddle Lake and Goat Lake over Meadow Mountain. The trail begins where Saddle Creek crosses the road and soon enters the Boulder River Wilderness. This trail is not maintained and is in poor condition. The trail switchbacks up Meadow Mountain, crosses along a ridge passing through quiet meadows before descending to Saddle Lake. Sections of this trail can be quite muddy.
TRAILHEAD ACCESS:From the Verlot Public Service Center (11 miles east of Granite Falls), travel west along the Mountain Loop Highway 3.9 miles. Turn right (north) on the Tupso Pass Road #41 and continue 11.0 miles to the trailhead on the right. Northwest Forest Pass required to park: Yes
