Johnson Ridge Trail #1067

SUMMARY:The trail begins in an abandoned logging and burn area and climbs the ridge into timber. The trail stays on the middle of the ridge, climbing steadily for one mile until leveling off along the ridge top near Sunrise Mountain. The trail descends and climbs to Scorpion Mountain at 5,400 feet in elevation.

From Scorpion Mountain the trail descends into meadow-lake vegetation and the entrance into the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness. No bicycles or motorized vehicles are permitted beyond this point.

It is 0.5 mile to Joan Lake from Scorpion Mountain and there is a 400 foot elevation drop. There are no water sources until the lake.

TRAILHEAD ACCESS:Drive State Route 2 for 1.7 miles east of the Skykomish. Turn north onto the Beckler River Road #65. Continue on Road #65 for 6.0 miles to the junction with Johnson Ridge Road #6520. Turn right onto Road #6520 and drive about 7.0 miles to spur road #6526. Turn right onto the spur and continue a few hundred feet to the road's end at the trailhead.
