Trail #217 Trail Talk: Discover views and sounds of the wild water of Goat Creek and its many tributaries. Hike through an undisturbed forest of Douglas-fir and western red cedar, where wind knocks the mighty trees over, exposing large root systems. Listen quietly for the sounds of wildlife and search for sign of deer and elk. Enjoy vistas of the Goat Creek Basin. Trail Facts:Trail quickly joins Goat Creek after an unforgettable waterfall experience. The trail follows Goat Creek upstream to junction with Tumwater Trail #218. The trail then turns west and ascends the west fork Goat Creek drainages, crossing tributaries with waterfalls. The trail crosses the creek twice in its ascent. Switchback up through forest with opening of views to the forested drainage below. The trail passes next to open meadows and rock cliffs as it joins Goat Mtn. Trail #217 just south of Vanson Peak.Trail Use: upper section: high; lower and middle section: low Considerations:Treat water before drinking. Winter storms may affect trail conditions.
